What inspired the design of this chair?
This three-legged chair draws inspiration from the intricate joints that have long captivated my attention. The design reflects my deep appreciation for humble beauty and the art of woodworking in its purest form, where every joint is crafted with care and precision, embodying a quiet elegance.
You describe achieving balance and simplicity across concept, form, materiality, and construction as a key principle in your practice. Did you face any challenges maintaining simplicity in the chair while ensuring structural integrity and comfort?
The challenge was to maintain comfort while embracing form and simplicity, but I believe this piece has successfully achieved a balance of beauty and elegance through its minimalistic design. The Furniture Studio at JamFactory played a pivotal role in transforming this vision into reality. Their skill and dedication to woodworking have elevated this chair into a true work of art.
What was the collaboration process like between you and the JamFactory team?
The JamFactory team has been exceptional throughout this project, from 2020 to the present. Every staff member involved has been incredibly helpful, approaching the work with mindful understanding and dedication. Their support and expertise have been invaluable in bringing this vision to life.
How do you envision this chair being used in everyday life?
I believe this chair serves not only as a functional piece for everyday use but also as a striking accent in any interior space. Its design allows it to stand out while seamlessly blending into various settings. Additionally, this chair has the potential to be appreciated as a piece of art – something to be admired for the beauty found in its minimalist form.
